Take slow and steady steps, to win a marathon
I was a firm believer of short term intensity and weighed it over long term consistency. But a drastic change took place to my belief after I started to implement consistency, patience and perseverance in my work. I started to recognize that being consistent, being patient and being persistent prevails over a long time.
The one thing that people lack today is the ability to wait. It is common in life not being able to achieve something as per the plan. With the fast moving world and the developments within it, it has become so easy to acquire any information, travel, research, develop new things in a short amount of time. These have all helped in improving our life to a great extent. But with the things moving around us so quickly, it sometimes feels like we are slowing down in our day-to-day tasks. A new habit has developed within us to acquire new things and the things we wish within an instant of time. But as you know life doesn’t work that way.
We have in general, started to underrate the qualities like patience and perseverance, that help us to go through difficult times. Planning and working with patience and perseverance, even if the process becomes slow surely helps one to reach a great satisfaction level in the work that they do. When I think of patience and perseverance, the first person who comes to my mind is Rahul Dravid. The patience that he showed during his batting was so immense through which he had become an important player for the team and also achieved a huge success in his career.
You might have noticed the difference between sprint runners and marathon runners. The people who take part in sprint events require high intensity and give more push to the ground to win the race. They maintain a large gap between each of their steps. But our life is more like a marathon, where runners take small and consistent steps each time to finally complete the race.
So, remember that life is enjoyable and more fruitful when small steps are taken at a time. 🤗
